"You're too old to be playing games"
I cannot even tell you how many times I've heard that over the years and yeah okay if there's an age limit I'm likely over it..but..I just haven't seen any game that says "no one over the age of 20 is permitted game time"
Actually research shows the fastest growing gamers are not just women, but women over age 35. Go us!!
My first 'gaming' experiences where pencil and paper way back in the dinosaur era. Then my dad brought home this tape deck, a keyboard and hooked them up to our television..so weird and can't even recall what we played on it at first but they had me at intrinsic rewards for doing inane stuff that is just plain..fun.
We'll skip my pong years and my obsession with centipede and other arcade games and pinball machines, fast forward right on up to my first nintendo and my absolute obsession with Zelda and Tetris! (anyone else end up staying up all night because you'd gotten your Tetris level so high you just couldn't bare to quit and go to bed? And back then there was no save on that puppy)
My dad did get me into some PC games back in the day...love games that Sierra used to make...the King's Quest games, anyone?
Played xbox games...will really give just about any game at least one attempt.
I held out on WoW for a LONG time, could not imagine buying a game and then paying the same people every month to be allowed to play what I just bought. Makes NO logical sense...so...my first MMORPG was Guild Wars. But got talked into trying a trial of WoW and that was all the wrote!
I did try Aion and while I love aspects of the game, I just have too much invested in WoW plus I do not like being forced to pvp
but that's for another discussion...
very cool to be here and so cool it's all girly gamer geeks here! I think we bring a different perspective to a lot of games.
